A day in the life of a Customer Representative

  • 8.40 - Carry out branch security checks and screen checks, then open the branch tills.
  • 8.50 - Branch huddle. Talk through ideas and conversation starters that can be used when talking to the customers on the counter.
  • 8.55 - Prepare for the opening of the branch, arrange the till and check that all the leaflets and materials about our products are displayed.
  • 9.30 - Chat to Mr Smith at one of the tills. Spot the fact that he has a large account balance, and then, after discussing his plans for the money, refer him to a Customer Consultant who can discuss the options available to him.
  • 10.30 - By using a conversation starter discussed in the morning meeting, get a referral for a home insurance quote and pass it on to a Customer Consultant for them to discuss further with the customer.
  • 11.30 - Have a spot of lunch.
  • 12.30 - Identify a potential mortgage lead through a conversation with a customer, then pass it to a Customer Consultant to book an appointment.
  • 2.30 - Closed off the till to do the post for the branch.
  • 3.30 - Carry out some banking.
  • 4.30 - Time for an end of day review or role play. Get feedback on performance from the Branch Manager.
  • 5.00 - End-of-the-day huddle with the rest of the team to share in the successes of the day.
