"The place is full of friendly people, everyone helps out..."
I already had 16 years’ experience in financial services when I came to Accord. This included high street banking, time spent in head offices and even working from home. My role at Accord suits my life perfectly right now - I have a fixed shift pattern which means that I know what to expect.
I like the variety that comes with my job, and I’m in daily contact with people right across the business. My day starts with collecting, sorting and distributing the mail; then I’m onto printing off any new mortgage applications and inputting them onto our system.
It’s a very busy environment, but I like that. The place is full of friendly people, and everyone helps out to make sure we get through the workload. I also like the fact that the company is successful and still growing, which means more stability than you’d find with a lot of businesses. The future’s certainly looking good.
I’d say you have to be pretty organised and able to plan ahead to be an administrator here, but also really important is the ability to react to changes and adjust your priorities - but then that’s what makes life interesting! Sure, it’s useful having experience in financial services, but the right attitude is just as important.
When I joined Accord I went through a very solid training process, where I learned all about the products, the systems and the processes. And this level of support is available whenever you need it, with management being very approachable too.
I was also very struck by the charitable side of the business – we are allowed two days per year to support local charities. I’ve helped to refurbish a local school and also got involved with delivering gifts to disadvantaged children from the local communities. It’s another side to Accord, and another reason why I’m really happy here.
